The City of Winter Springs server room is the City's datacenter, providing a centralized location for the many servers utilized by the City. The datacenter is home to over 15 servers providing various roles to the many departments supported by Information Services. The datacenter also houses the City's security devices that utilize the "layers of defense" concept to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and accuracy of the City's data.
Network
The network has undergone a vast transformation over the years here at the City of Winter Springs. Speeds have jumped from 10 Megabits per second to 1000 Megabits per second within the buildings, connectivity between City buildings has improved with redundant capability, and security and reliability has increased as the network has grown and become more complex. The City's network continues to be the backbone and workhorse for the City today and will be well into the future.
Desktop Environment
The City's desktop environment is currently undergoing a transformation and heading in a new direction. This new direction will provide the City with a new standards based desktop platform with an extended life cycle reducing support costs. The desktop environment also supports multiple applications, providing the necessary tools for the City to achieve its mission.
