What is the Future Land Use?
The Future Land Use Map designation directs the type of use and density or intensity of use for property within the City. The Zoning of property must be in compliance with the Future Land Use Map designation. The Future Land Use Map is available online. Click Here.
Changing the Future Land Use Map requires an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan. The number of times the City can amend its Comprehensive Plan each year is limited by State law to a maximum of two times per year for Large Scale Comprehensive Plan amendments. Large Scale Amendments (over 10 acres) must be transmitted to the State for review by the Dept. of Community Affairs, prior to adoption. This process can take up to 8 months.
There is no limitation on frequency of submissions related to Small Scale Comprehensive Plan amendments. Small Scale Amendments take approximately 8 weeks and includes two public hearings.
