Operations Division

  • Is responsible for the daily operation of three Fire Stations. 
  • The main fire station number 24 is located at 102 North Moss Road
  • Station 24 is where the Fire Department Administration Offices are located. These are the Offices of the Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Training Division Chief, EMS Chief and the Fire Marshal.
  • The second Fire Station number 26 is located at 850 Northern Way in the Tuscawilla section of the City.
  • The third fire station number 28 is located at Winter Springs City Hall complex 1126 East SR 434. It serves most of the 434 corridor from Barrington Estates to Stone Gable subdivisions.
  • The 3 fire stations are staffed 24 hours a day with firefighters and paramedics.
  • Fire station's 24 and 26 have a Fire Engine and a transport Rescue unit. Fire Station 28 is equipped with a quick attack engine only but the other 2 fire stations support it with additional equipment and personnel. 
  • Station number 24 also has a Battalion Chief that responds 24 hours a day to alarms that require a higher level of supervision. Their job is to make sure adequate resources are dispatched to handle a call and they plan and organize all major alarms and events for the shift. 
  • All members of the fire Department are also State certified Firefighters and State Certified Emergency Medical Technician's , or Paramedics.
  • We respond to over 3,000 calls for help a year between the 3 Fire stations.
  • Every City Fire hydrant (over 900) are inspected twice a year.
  • All Fire Stations do free citizen blood pressure checks .
  • Fire Station tours are available during normal hours 8am till 8pm

Specialized equipment

  • Engines 24 and 26 have a complete set of extrication equipment, commonly referred to as Hurst tools, to get people in accidents out of mangled vehicles. Engine 28 has a set of lifting air bags in the event a vehicle or heavy objects have trapped citizens underneath them.
  • The Battalion Chief vehicle also has gas leak, and Carbon Monoxide detectors.
  • Fire Engines 24 and 26 also have ISI thermal imaging cameras that can help locate fire in hidden places in ceilings and walls and can also be used at a fire to help quickly locate trapped victims that would other wise be un seen due to smoke conditions in a fire.
  • Heart monitors and defibrillators are located on all fire engines and rescue units. These units can restore a heart beat or monitor a hearts rhythm.

First Response Agreement

The City of Winter Springs participates in the first response agreement with all the Cities and County Fire Stations. This means it won't matter if the call is in Winter Springs, or the County or another City what ever Fire Engine or Rescue unit is closest to a call for help they will respond to get help to the citizens quicker. 

Interesting facts

  • Each fire engine carry's 500 gallons of water in a tank on the truck.
  • Each fire engine carry's 1,300 feet of large diameter hose to hook up to the fire hydrants.
  • Each fire engine has an additional 800 feet of fire attack lines that the Firefighters take into buildings.
  • Each fire engine and rescue has breathing air tanks, that the fire fighters wear that contain 45 minutes of fresh air so they can work in areas that you normally can't breathe in.
