Training
The W.S.F.D. Training Division is responsible for ensuring that all personnel possess the necessary skills, abilities, certifications and licenses to provide the best possible emergency response and firefighting capabilities at all times. Training performs the following activities:

Evaluate department compliance with all appropriate local, state, and federal laws and standards applicable to department certification and training.

Coordinate all fire department training activities including training with other agencies.

Identify training needs and develop solutions.

Maintain training and certification records for all department personnel.
Establishes and monitor fire department safety practices.
How can I become a Winter Springs Fire Fighter?
First you must complete a class at Seminole Community College titled Fire/EMS Skills Assessment Class that will place you on a hiring eligibility list. The prerequisites for this class are:

State of Florida Certified Firefighter including either State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician and/or Paramedic certified.

Possess a current CPR card and if Paramedic certified an ACLS card.

State of Florida Class D drivers license with an E endorsement or CDL.
When a position becomes available at the Winter Springs Fire Department we will call individuals on the list and prior to hiring you must pass the following steps:
