The Winter Springs Police Department has a highly trained and specialized Emergency Response Team which is under the guidance of Captain Kevin Brunelle. The Emergency Response Team has the responsibility of responding to any situation that requires specialized weapons and tactics. These situations include but are not limited to the following: hostage situations; barricades suspects; violent civil unrest; and the service of search warrants. The team assists citizens by holding demonstrations and educational sessions on how to react in dangerous situations. All members of the Emergency Response Team must continually undergo advanced training in order to be a part of this unit.
