Citizen Police Academy

The Winter Springs Police Department's Citizen Police Academy introduces residents and business owners of the community an overview of the functions of the police department. You will receive training and instruction relating to most aspects of the Winter Springs Police Department from the employees that provided the services daily. The Academy is intended to provide you with a better understanding of police services. Detailed information will be provided on police topics such as Patrol Operations, Communications, Records, Crime Scene, Criminal Investigations, K-9, Emergency Response Team, Critical Response Team, Traffic Unit, and many other areas of interest. Academy participants will also be provided the opportunity to ride-a-long with an on duty Police Officer and participate in a structured firearms class taught by department firearms instructors.

The Citizen Police Academy meets one night a week for 10 weeks from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

The 2010 Academy begins Tuesday, September 14, 2009, and meets for 10 consecutive Tuesdays with Graduation being Monday, November 22, 2010. To sign up please complete the application and return it to the Winter Springs Police Department, located at 300 North Moss Road. The program is offered on a first come basis and is limited to (20) participants.
