WINTER SPRINGS, FL:  As part of the City of Winter Springs’ continuing goal to provide excellent service to our community, the City of Winter Springs Police Department undergoes an annual assessment of policies, procedures, and daily operations by the Commission for Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA).  The process of reaccreditation is a formal process in which every area of the department is scrutinized and reviewed for compliance with policy and training directives, including interviews with members of the police department to evaluate the understanding of these policies.

This year’s assessment resulted in the recommendation for the City of Winter Springs Police Department to be fully reaccredited with Excelsior status.  This is awarded to agencies that have shown a commitment to accreditation by successfully completing five reaccreditation cycles and have not had any conditions assessed on them by the CFA.  Members of the Winter Springs Police Department will appear in front of the CFA Commission in February 2021 to formally receive the new award.
