Fire Hydrant Testing

This page is where the City of Winter Springs will provide updates about the progress of the citywide fire hydrant testing and inspections.

Beginning Monday, April 8, 2024, the City of Winter Springs Utilities will begin conducting citywide fire hydrant inventory and inspection.

The city's contractors will inspect and inventory all 1,200 public fire hydrants to ensure they are maintained and in proper working order.

As part of the process, crews will open hydrants to check flow rates and pressure to ensure each hydrant is cataloged correctly.

Work will be performed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. 

Discoloration Water Notice:

Customers are advised to avoid washing clothes during this process. If they see discolored water at their tap, they should allow their cold-water faucet to run for several minutes or until the discoloration clears.

Round 3-Beginning April 30, 2024

Contractors have completed the second round of hydrant inventory and inspection and are set to begin Round 3 on April 30, 2024.  The Round 3 work area will be located in two regions serviced by Water Treatment Plants 1 and 2 in the Central part of the City.  Section one will encompass the area south of SR-434 and north of Lombardy Road between Cortez Avenue and Moss Road and all of Hacienda Village. Section two will consist of the Oak Forrest Subdivision and the area south of Winter Springs Boulevard from Tuskawilla Road to Greenbriar Lane. Signs notifying residents of the work are being placed at critical points in the area, and work is expected to take several days to complete.

Round 2-Beginning April 22, 2024

Hydromax continues to make quick progress. It has completed the first round service area and is moving to Round 2, located south of SR434 and west of Tuskawilla Road. This also includes some areas north of SR-434 between SR 419 and the Winter Springs Town Center, like Parkstone. Signs notifying residents of the work are being placed at critical points in the area. To date, Hydromax has serviced more than 220 hydrants in the city.

Round 1-Continues April 15, 2024

Hydromax continues to progress through the northwestern portion of the City, with crews moving through much of the Highlands area last week. To date, Hydromax technicians have inventoried and serviced 117 hydrants. Crews will begin moving into the area in and around the Avenues on Monday and towards the area in and around the Deer Song neighborhood mid-week.

Round 1-Begining April 8, 2024

Hydromax will start working in the northwestern portion of the City, specifically north of SR 434 and west of SR 419, with crews starting at Sheoah Boulevard and Clearn Court. Hydromax technicians plan to catalog, service, and paint approximately 17 hydrants daily, with the first round of work expected to be completed in approximately two to three weeks.
