Winter Springs Creek Sediment Cleanup Project

Winter Springs Creek Sediment Removal and Disposal

This page is where the City of Winter Springs will provide weekly updates about the progress of the sediment cleanup within the City.

Thanks to a grant from the Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS), the City of Winter Springs is seeking bids to hire a contractor to remove sediment and debris from several city crossings.

A recent inspection of the roadway crossings along Bear, Gee, Howell, and Sheoah Creeks found large amounts of sediment buildup that, if left untreated, could reduce the waterway's functionality and cause potential flooding.

Under the grant, the NRCS will contribute up to 75% of the project's total cost, with the City covering the remaining 25%.

Work will occur Monday through Friday and is expected to be completed within 60 days.
